Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am petitioning to add HLTH 305 to my schedule this semester (Winter 2024).
During my course selection for this academic year (Summer 2023), I reviewed the course requirements to finish my undergraduate degree. It was shown that the courses I had selected for the 2023-2024 school term fulfilled all my academic requirements, leaving only electives to finish in the summer of 2024. Later in an email from my academic advisor (December 1st, 2023), I found out that I had an outlying requirement of a 300-level KNPE/HLTH course that I did not know of. Due to a glitch in SOLUS, I was unaware of this requirement and had to add a course to my schedule late, which provided fewer options than if I enrolled in a course during summer enrollment. I was placed on the waitlist for HLTH 305 in December but was only moved to 3rd place by January 19th and was not enrolled before the deadline.
My only course option was to take KNPE 454. Two weeks into the semester, on Friday, January 19th, I enrolled in Clinical Biomechanics (KNPE 454) and attempted to catch up as best I could. This course is irrelevant to my interest and was much more difficult than I was prepared for. In the one week I was enrolled in this course, I had fallen behind in other courses to try and catch up in this course. I asked four friends in the course, talked with the professor twice, and met with the TA for help, but I felt like I had reached a point where I could not catch up.
I am requesting to add HLTH 305 to my schedule because I attended 3 of the 4 lectures held so far, so I am not far behind in the content or assignments. I am also much more interested in the content compared to KNPE 454. I have received permission from the professor to enroll in this course, and there is one seat available for me to enroll. If I do not enroll in this course this semester, my only option will be to enroll in a course with a different institution as a transfer credit in the summer. After all my time at Queen’s University, I would be very disappointed if my final class was with a different school.
Thank you very much for your consideration,
Nina DeGagne

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My future plan for academic success is simple but effective. Since I have attended most of the lectures for this course, I am not far behind in content. I have not missed a substantial amount of assignments or content for this course, and I will be able to catch up with no issues. I have a strong academic standing and multiple people to contact if I am having difficulties catching up in this course.
