Petition Letter

Petition Letter: My name is Alex Popescu, and I am writing to express my concerns about a course that has impacted my academic experience at Queens University. I am currently enrolled in the anatomy course, and after completing two labs involving cadavers, I found myself in a position where my mental well-being was compromised. As a student pursuing kinesiology, I understand the importance of the anatomy course in providing an overall understanding of the human body. However, despite my initial commitment to completing the course, I discovered that my personal problems with working with cadavers had become an obstacle to my academic progress. The hands-on experience with cadavers during the labs triggered significant anxiety and unease for me. I believe that a successful academic journey involves both gaining knowledge and the desire to engage in the material. Unfortunately, my discomfort had escalated to the point where it was impacting my ability to fully engage with the course material and negatively impacting my overall academic performance. After careful consideration and consultation with my family, I decided that it was in my best interest to withdraw from the current anatomy course and look for enrollment in an alternative course. I plan to overcome my anxiety in the future as blended anatomy is a required course next year; however, I needed some more time to be able to cope with these types of labs.
I wanted to drop my anatomy blended course and enroll in online anatomy. After dropping my anatomy class, I noticed that the online anatomy class was not being added to my onq, so I emailed BHSC regarding this concern. After a couple days, they said they didn't see any enrollment in anatomy online on my solus. Unfortunately, I am not sure what happened, and they emailed me back after the deadline for enrolling in classes in the winter term, so now, I have been left with four classes for the term and must take one in the summer as it is to late to enroll in another class without a doctor's note, and I must have missed assignments by now.
I have found an anatomy course that is offered in the summer, and I would like to make a transition. Given the circumstances, I kindly request your support in enrolling in another course without any additional fees. I understand that there may be administrative processes and considerations involved, but I paid for ten classes this year, and I am currently enrolled in only nine.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Moving forward, I should be more sure about whether or not I can deal with things that may cause me anxiety. When enrolling in this course, I thought that I could persevere and finish the work that needed to be completed. Unfortunately, I was not able to, and I had to enroll in the alternative online anatomy class. My plan now is to get familiar with online anatomy in the summer, in hopes that when I come back to Kingston next year, I will be able to get comfortable with cadavers and indulge in the material with no problems.
