Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean(Academics),

My name is Levin Mwaura student number 20245613. As I write to you, I would kindly like to petition to drop MATH 121 and CISC 121 (Fall 2020).

My reasons for this decision to drop the above listed courses are mainly due to circumstances I could not control. At the time (Fall 2020) given the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic in addition to not having my application for a Canadian visa approved I took the classes online. During the course of the term, I was notified that my visa application was denied and as such have a wave of uncertainty fall on me as I was uncertain I would be able to completion my studies given the requirement for in-person learning in the Spring term. The news not only affected me but also brought worry within my family with many members suggesting I should change my course (Computer Science) and apply to a local university. In total sincerity honest,these factors really weighed on me and lead me to slowly lose passion for my course as well as question whether I would go on to complete it. As a result I decided to take an unofficial break from my studies given the internal conflict I had with myself in addition to the family conflict I was facing at the time, a decision at which at the time I thought was best but one I understand could have been done better.


The reason as to why I would kindly like to petition to drop CISC 121 and MATH 121 is given they were the official classes registered in my SOLUS for Fall term and as so due to my unofficial discontinuation were the ones in which I was credited for taking.

My petition to drop the classes comes late given,I not only assumed the classes would not be credited given my late withdrawal.

I hope this petition letter is able to properly articulate my circumstance and appreciate all time taken to review it.
