Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello Dean,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Arian Ebrahimian , a third-year Life Sciences student with the student ID number 20273909. I am writing to respectfully request permission to sit for the MICR 221 Final Exam, which I was unable to attend as scheduled due to the illness of my father at the time. My father experienced a stroke at that time and mentally and physically I was not able to attend the final exam. I emailed both my prof, Dr. Lohans and the academic consideration team at that time and informed them of the situation that I was in. The reason for submitting this request was due to my father was not being in a good shape to leave the house and go and ask for any supporting documentation of the matter. I’ve received the doctor’s letter recently and this is the reason why I am submitting this petition late. I had no direct contact with my father’s doctor and I was not able to ask for any types of documentation myself as he was in Iran and I was in Canada.
Understanding the importance of adhering to academic policies and procedures, I have taken the necessary steps to ensure my readiness to complete this exam. I have remained engaged with the course material, sought additional resources, and consulted with my instructor to address any gaps in my understanding. My efforts reflect my commitment to my academic responsibilities and my determination to successfully complete the requirements of my program.
I am aware that deferred examinations are granted under specific conditions, and I believe my situation aligns with these criteria. My request is made in good faith, aiming to uphold the academic integrity and standards of Queen’s University. I am prepared to provide any further information or documentation that may be required to support my petition.
Given the circumstances that led to my deferral and my ongoing academic progress, I kindly request your consideration for granting me the opportunity to write the deferred exam. I am willing to comply with any guidelines or requirements set forth by the faculty to facilitate this process.
I understand the importance of this matter and appreciate the time and attention the administration dedicates to ensuring fair and equitable academic opportunities for all students. I am hopeful for a favorable response and am available at your convenience for any discussion or clarification needed regarding my petition.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your response.
Warmest regards,
Arian Ebrahimian
