Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear [Recipient Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. I respectfully request consideration for a Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grading option for my SOCY 275 course this semester. This appeal is made under extraordinary personal circumstances, primarily concerning my recent diagnosis of anxiety, which significantly impacted my academic performance.

Over the previous semester, I encountered unforeseen challenges that have profoundly affected my ability to perform academically at a level reflective of my capabilities. It was during this period that I sought professional help and was subsequently diagnosed with anxiety. This diagnosis has been a pivotal moment in understanding the root of my academic difficulties.

Unfortunately, the timing of this diagnosis meant that I did not have the necessary accommodations in place for the majority of the semester. Adjusting to this new aspect of my personal and academic life has been challenging. While I am now receiving the support and resources needed to manage my condition effectively, the absence of these accommodations during the critical period of the semester has left me at a significant disadvantage.

My request for a CR/NC grading option is not made lightly. I am fully committed to my academic pursuits and understand the importance of maintaining a high-performance standard. However, given my unique and challenging circumstances this semester, I believe this grading option would offer a fair reflection of my efforts and circumstances. It would also allow me to continue my studies without the undue burden of a grade that does not accurately represent my academic potential.

I am prepared to provide any documentation or further information required to support my petition, including medical documentation relating to my diagnosis and treatment.

I sincerely hope for your understanding and favourable consideration of my request. I am committed to learning and growing from this experience and am eager to continue my academic journey with the current support and accommodations.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Warmest regards,

Donya Shahrabi
