Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to you today concerning my final grade in Sociology 389 Gender Law and Crime. As it stands my final mark in the course is 55. I have been in contact with Dr. Kay and she has advised me that the breakdown of my final exam is as follows:
Short answer questions:
10/15 + 8/15 18/30
10/15 + 13/15 23/30
Essay Portion 8/40
Dr. Kay noted in her email to me that a problem with the essay was that I did not address the question and the essay needed much more attention to the lectures and readings on desistence.
My overall grade on the final exam was 49, which has left me with a D in the course.
I am writing to you today as I wish to appeal the grade of my final exam. I have been instructed that it is not necessary for me to obtain a copy of the final exam or present subsequent course material but to simply state my request for the exam to be re-examined.
I am appealing the final exam mark because I feel that this mark, specifically the mark for the essay portion of this grade does not reflect the quality of my response nor my understanding of the course material.
