Petition Letter: To those it may concern,
I am Daniel Mitchell, a 4th year BCH student following the Game Development stream, and I'd like to drop one of my electives called 'CISC 335: Networks'. At the beginning of this course, assignments followed a straightforward process that asked questions directly based off textbook material in a way that I was prepared for. Upon completing the midterm (after the drop deadline) for this course I had a rough time and believed that I simply studied the wrong material for select questions. However it was only after receiving back the test and reviewing the solutions, that I realized I was missing a mathematical theory understanding and intuition that the questions required. Rather than course material knowledge, I am lacking in necessary prerequisite knowledge that I do not have time to develop as I also have my capstone project and the other 4th year course in my workload. it was only after this solution review that I was aware I would no longer be able to keep up with the course. After speaking with the professor, it was stated that the final exam would hold similar circumstances, and that this level of mathematical understanding is expected. I'm requesting a deadline waive so that I may drop this course as it is not necessary for my degree plan and has brought challenges that put too great a strain on my necessary workload.
Thank you,
Daniel Mitchell
