Petition Letter:
Hello Dr. Jenn Stephenson,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request special consideration for dropping DRAM236: Public Presentation after the academic deadline due to extenuating psychological circumstances that have significantly impacted my ability to perform in this course.

As a student consistently striving for excellence, my academic journey has been marked by dedication and hard work, reflected in my average ~A standing. However, I have encountered unexpected challenges in DRAM236, stemming from severe social anxiety. This condition profoundly affects my ability to engage in public speaking tasks, a core component of the course curriculum. Despite rigorous preparation, I experience overwhelming anxiety during presentations, leading to physical symptoms and cognitive blocks that prevent me from completing my speeches. This not only hampers my performance but also causes significant stress, affecting my overall well-being and academic workload.

The impact of this issue was especially evident in a recent presentation, which, despite my best efforts, was severely compromised by my anxiety. This experience highlighted my ongoing struggle and its detrimental effect on my performance not only in DRAM236 but has begun to hinder my ability to perform well in my other courses.

Understanding the importance of maintaining a high GPA for my future aspirations, such as applying to competitive programs including medical school, I am concerned about the repercussions of these challenges on my academic record. Additionally, I have already used all my personal interest credits, restricting my ability to address my situation effectively.

Given these circumstances, I kindly request your consideration to drop DRAM236 after the deadline. This appeal is made in the hope of preserving my academic integrity and mental health, ensuring that my performance in this course does not unduly reflect on my overall academic achievements and future opportunities.

Your understanding and support in this matter would be immensely appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.

King regards,

Charlize Delos Reyes Cash
