Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello, I have been looking to contact someone who could help me with some issues on my transcript that are currently affecting my GPA and may hinder my ability to apply to certain majors, as a first-year BAH student.
During the fall semester, I had to apply for long-term academic consideration due to my diagnosis of mono, which affected my academic performance for nearly 3 weeks, and left me in the hospital during my time away, of the fall semester. For the most part, I was able to bounce back on track however, my second-year STAT263 course was becoming challenging. In addition to taking a course one year ahead, I got notice quite shortly before my exam that the weighting of the exam on the syllabus would change from 60% or 80% worth my grade, to now 90%. This was due to the low average the class got on the midterm, which was originally going to be worth 30%. Long story short, I ended up doing poorly on the exam due to the high weighting, which caused me to fail the class. I managed to get an 85% average on weekly quizzes that were worth only 10% of my grade and tried my hardest to do my best by asking questions after class. Since I knew I was probably going to fail or do poorly in the course, I took an extra 3 credit course this semester, so that I could still get my credits for this year. Now that conversation around applying to majors is going around, I don't know what to do about this mark, and how it is affecting my GPA. This mark doesn't demonstrate a pattern in my academic achievements, and I don't want one mark to greatly hinder what majors I can apply to.
