Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Over the past semester, starting around November, I have been dealing with severe challenges related to depression, anxiety, and ADHD. These mental health conditions have affected my daily functioning and have made it exceedingly difficult for me to concentrate, organize my tasks effectively, and meet the demands of my academic responsibilities.

Despite my best efforts, I have found myself struggling to keep pace with the coursework in MATH 121/124. The combination of depressive episodes and attention deficits has resulted in significant setbacks in my ability to complete assignments, and perform adequately in the assessments that I do complete.

I have sought support from mental health professionals here at Queen's and medication management from my family physician to address these issues. However, despite my attempts at managing my mental health and my current academic accommodations, I have encountered persistent challenges that have hindered my academic progress in this particular course.

Given the severity of my mental health struggles this year and their direct impact on my academic performance, I respectfully request your consideration in allowing me to drop MATH 121/124 past the academic deadline without academic penalty. Doing so would alleviate immense stress and allow me the opportunity to prioritize my mental well-being and other classes.

I am committed to my academic success and am disheartened by the situation as I normally excel at and am passionate about mathematics. I'm eager to resume my studies once I am in a better position to do so effectively. Your understanding and support during this challenging time would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for considering my request. I am more than willing to provide any additional documentation or information that may assist in the review process.
