Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally request the withdrawal of my enrollment in the courses MAPP 311 for the Winter semester of 2024, and MUSC 321A and MUSC 321B for the Fall/Winter semesters of 2023-2024.

Regrettably, I have been grappling with persistent mental health challenges and personal issues that have adversely impacted not only my personal wellbeing but also my academic performance. Despite successfully completing the majority of my courses this year, the current semester has posed significant difficulties. My anxiety and mental health issues have hindered my ability to attend classes, and as a result, maintaining pace with my academic responsibilities has become increasingly challenging. Recognizing that I was unable to keep up with all my courses, I made the decision to concentrate on the coursework that I felt confident in completing.

During this challenging period, I sought assistance from the counseling and psychology clinics at Queen’s University. Their support was instrumental in helping me secure accommodations with QSAS, which enabled me to navigate through the academic year.

This experience has underscored the importance of prioritizing my health and wellbeing over taking on an overwhelming course load. As I move forward into the next academic year and continue my journey towards recovery, I understand the need to pace myself.

In the forthcoming summer and into the next academic year, I am committed to continuing my therapy and counseling sessions. I also plan to spend quality time with my family. Furthermore, I intend to schedule meetings with my academic advisors to devise a strategic plan that will support my academic success in the upcoming school year.

I appreciate your understanding and consideration of my situation.

Sincerely,
Jia Jia (Heidi) Cui
