Dear sir/ma’am,
Subject: Explanation of performance in Fall Semester
I hope this letter finds you well. I hereby write to you to provide information regarding my performance in the fall semester, specifically in BIOL 102 and CISC 101.
I acknowledge that my fall semester grade was lower than my usual standards and that I should take responsibility for my performance. That is why I took a step to write to you, after I learnt of existence of such a platform.
I am a WUSC scholar (World University Service of Canada) who landed in Canada on the 24th of August 2023. Coming straight from the refugee camp, I found navigating life in Canada a little hectic during the first few months. Everything felt very new and different. In as much as I tried my very best with, “go to Rome, do what romans do” through adapting to both livelihood and educational cultures, adjusting to the general change in every aspect there was and to starting a fresh here at Queens, I must admit that this change, affected me as a person in one way or another. I was in denial and ignored a lot of things, something I regret because I would have fixed my academics and mental health if I faced the situation earlier.
I understand the importance of maintaining a strong academic record and I assure you that I am committed to better my performance. I have taken proactive steps on how to boost my academics by getting help from friends, tutors and making use of the overall resources available in the campus. I have also learnt to slowly cope with change and loneliness by talking to people who experienced the same or expertise in such fields.
I kindly request that you consider this explanation and consider the overall trajectory of my academic records which are going to improve this semester. I assure you that I am fully dedicated to my studies and will achieve better in the future.
Sincerely,
Joanne Mabior.
