Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request permission to drop the course phys 212, for the current semester. I have been facing significant challenges this semester. Balancing the demands of a heavy course load, managing responsibilities as a second year student, and working two jobs have proven to be overwhelming for me. Despite my best efforts, I find myself unable to dedicate the time and focus necessary to preform adequately in my classes. This class in particular, I have not given full attention to due to my own personal challenges of deciding what I really want to do. Joining the military has been a passion of mine since high school, however I haven't had the support of friends and family in that decision which is why I truly did now know what I want to do since last year. First year in specific, I was planning on dropping out altogether since I did not have an academic plan, but I stayed to persue a possible math (general) degree. Knowing what I know now, and reaching out to CAF recruiters, I have deicided to persue a physics degree. Although I am still under the math department, I am hoping to switch into the physics department under a physics (general) degree this May. Going back to phys 212, upon reviewing my current standing, it has become clear that my grades do not reflect the level of effort I have put forth. Even with the final exam factored in, achieving a passing grade is not feasible for me at this point. To reach the minimum passing grade, I would need an unattainable 94% on the final exam, given my past performance. I appreciate your understanding and willingness to consider my situation. I remain committed to my academic success and plan to enroll in this course again next year. I plan on taking my academic studies much more seriously in the coming year, and hopefully having another chance at second year as a physics student. I am hoping to be admitted into the military's paid education program where I will be better equipped to focus on my studies without the added burden of multiple jobs.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this class this semester and look forward to the possibility of rejoining it in the future.
