Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Horton,
My name is Jenkin Tsang and I have just completed my second year at Queen's in Life Science and my student number is 10107100. I am writing to you in regards to appealing for a credit standing in PHGY 214, which is a full year course which started in Fall 2014 and ended Winter 2015.
Back in first semester both my grandparents on my mother¿¿s side passed away within a month of each other and consequentially my aunt¿¿s breast cancer worsened. This took a toll on my work, social, and personal life as I withdrew from people and began to lose interest in my studies. I lost focus and motivation in my courses and was unable to perform to my usual academic levels.
After receiving my fall semester marks back I messaged the course coordinator for PHGY214, Dr. Van Vugt, explaining my situation and he brought up appealing for a credit standing in the course at the end of the year. Back in second semester I also began seeing a grief counsellor with HCDS and was working with her to devise a plan to help me get back on my feet again. I also begun reaching to friends and letting them know about my situation in hopes that I would have a net of support in the case that I needed a friend to talk to. I have now begun getting back on track and continue to work hard to do so. I look forward to being able to perform at the same academic level as previously. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Respectfully yours,
Jenkin Tsang
