Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dean,

I trust this message reaches you in good health. My name is Sam, and I am writing to formally petition to drop the CISC 220 course for the current academic term due to mental health challenges, specifically stress and anxiety. These difficulties significantly impacted my ability to focus and engage the course.

During the course, my previous mental health issues returned and intensified. CISC 220, being a particularly demanding course with a heavy workload and complex content, heightened my stress levels and impeded my ability to meet assignment deadlines and academic expectations.

The situation escalated after the drop deadline (April 8th), coinciding with the upcoming exam period. I experienced heightened stress levels and even developed sleep disorders, making it exceedingly challenging to concentrate and remember things, including the deadline to drop the course. Also, my performance on assignments and exams was not good, and despite deferring my exam, the grades I currently hold make passing the course highly unlikely.

Upon successfully dropping CISC 220, my immediate focus will be on my mental well-being. I will continue to seek support from mental health therapists. Additionally, I intend to adjust my course load in future semesters to strike a balance.

Thank you for considering my petition.

Sincerely,
Sam
