Petition Letter: Hello Dr. Jenn Stephenson,

I am petitioning to late-drop a course, BIOL 343 (Fall, 2023).

Throughout the course, I felt that it was unable to accommodate my given accommodations due to my psychological disability. The course had unchangeable deadlines, which my accommodations could not fully take advantage of. It also lacked flexibility in learning, often meaning that content taught would not be recorded, and online notes hardly existed. Setting a strict schedule of when the content of the course could be learned. Furthermore, my accommodations were only applied partway through the semester. These circumstances beyond my control greatly affected my academic performance throughout the course, as I was not provided with the flexibility and accommodations that allow me to learn at the same level as others. Which affected all my work within the course, leading to a poor performance.

Additionally, I had only managed to meet with an academic advisor to discuss my condition until after the drop deadline had already passed. I have continued to meet with my on-campus occupation therapist (Lori Epp) to discuss and create strategies to initiate and persist in my work despite these challenges I face.
