Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: This petition letter is in regards to Credit Standing on specified courses as a result of extenuating circumstances, pertaining, but not limited to housing environment, psychological challenges, and recovery from physical illness outlined below. I submitted one petition outlining my circumstances for Credit standing. This petition is to waive the dates of such, as I would assume that one year after a term is complete would be until June 1st with that being when we get our final marks and everything is graded, but in case such date is referring to the end of April, I am submitting this petition in addition to be safe.
(Struggling with major depressive disorder, recovering from an eating disorder, as well as living in a less-than-ideal living space all contributed to my poorer academic performance in these courses.)

As explained in my CR petition, this past year was detrimental to my mental health in many ways. When it came to a close, I immediately needed time to heal, reflect, and recover from all the trauma and my constant survival mode through time at home with loved ones and therapy.

During this process of recovery and delving into CBT, I reached out to an academic advisor at the beginning of May, investigating what could be done with a few of my first and second-year marks that were less than ideal due to extenuating circumstances. The academic advisor mentioned Credit Standing as a very viable option for me. In knowing more about the Queens' academic system I now feel more confident that if such an extenuating, terrible situation were to occur again, (which I really hope won't and don't think will because of the great support and housing environment I have lined up going forwards), that I would know what precautions to take to avoid applying for a CR ever again.

I see no reason to write a petition or anything like this ever again. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing back from you.
