Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello, I submitted a petition letter on May 13th, but have not received any response. This week I met with an academic advisor and they stated it takes one day for petitions to be processed. I just wanted to make sure my petition has been received and reiterate my desire to take PSYC 100 this summer. Below is the letter I submitted Monday, thank you for your time.
Dear Members of the Petitions Committee,
I am writing to request special consideration for enrollment in the PSYC 100 course for the Summer 2024 term due to technical issues encountered during the registration process and subsequent challenges in communication with the university administration.
In early February 2024, I attempted to register for the PSYC 100 course via SOLUS. Unfortunately, the system repeatedly failed to process my registration and provided no instruction or indication that I needed to contact the university directly to resolve the issue. This technical barrier was unexpected and beyond my control, significantly hindering my ability to secure a place in the course at the initial registration stage.
Upon realizing the persistent issue, I contacted the university administration via email in late February 2024. By this time, I had been placed on a waitlist for the course, initially in seventh position. Over the intervening months, I have actively monitored my status and am currently second on the waitlist.
Enrollment in this course is crucial for my academic progression and timely graduation, as it is a prerequisite for further required courses in my psychology major. The delay and uncertainty in securing a spot in this class have caused significant stress and potential disruption to my academic plans.
I respectfully request that the committee consider my situation as an extenuating circumstance and grant me a spot in the PSYC 100 course for the upcoming summer term. I believe that my proactive approach to addressing the issue reflects my commitment and earnestness in pursuing my academic goals. I am deeply passionate about psychology, my chosen major, and a field I am committed to exploring in depth. This summer, I plan to dedicate all my efforts to this discipline, ensuring that my study of the PSYC 100 course benefits from focused and undisturbed engagement.
Sincerely,
Ava Fallah
