Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Petition to Enrol in PHIL 151 (Late course add)
I am writing to request permission to enrol into PHIL 151 for the May-June summer session. I am a recent transfer student at Queens University, and I attended Queens this past fall and winter semesters. I also decided to switch my major from Biology to Philosophy in my third year of undergrad. In addition to this, due to some mental health issues over this past year, I was only able to take three courses per term. Due to switching my major so late in my academic career, as well as taking a reduced course load, I will be taking a fifth year. Therefore, in order to finish all of my required courses in time, I will have to take summer courses each summer until my graduation. I registered into PHIL 151 on the waitlist before the deadline of May 10, however I did not get accepted. If there is any way I would still be able to be enrolled it would be greatly appreciated, as I am behind on my course requirements and am hoping to graduate within five years. Due to my mental health difficulties and reduced course load over this past year, taking this course over the summer would be greatly beneficial. As I am only able to handle taking a few courses at a time right now. Professor Smith has agreed to let me into the course. Thank you so much for considering my petition.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I will use this opportunity of a spread out-course load over the summer, in order to achieve academic success. By taking PHIL 151 over the summer, I can maintain my undergrad requirements while taking a spread out/reduced course load. Due to the reduced and spread out course load over the summer, I will be able to spend the necessary amount of time I need to complete course work without unnecessary distress caused by my personal struggles. This is because my schedule will be more open and flexible to accommodate any difficulties I run into due to my extenuating circumstances. I will give each assignment and necessary coursework an allotted time frame to ensure it is completed on time. In addition to this, if I do run into difficulties as a result of issues with my mental health, I will have enough extra time from my reduced course load, in order to have a buffer to still adequately complete my assignments.
