Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am Yiqi Jia and my student number is 20321711. I am writing to inform you that I
want to cancel the school's decision to withdraw me for one year and get a chance to redo some courses or let me be a part-time student. I will show my situation and reasons below.
Firstly,My family and I, as new immigrants, do not currently have a stable income in Canada, so during the winter semester I worked as an instacart shopper for a while to earn some living expenses. During the process, I didn't balance my work and study time well, which resulted in some times when my work interfered with the completion of my classes and assignments. For example, there were times when shopping for customers took longer than expected, resulting in not making it to class in time, and so on. The instacart job takes up a lot of my time and I don't spend a lot of energy or time on studying.
Secondly,I spent a lot of time revising my resume and submitting it for job searching, placing my own resume and communicating with some companies for job opportunities on some websites like indeed. This caused me to neglect a lot of very important things in my studies, such as Quiz 1 for Chem112, etc., and miss out on important time. This is also the reason for my current low gpa
Overall,I am requesting that the university give me an opportunity to observe my summer school studies for a while longer, and if I am not able to attend Queen's as a full-time student, I can also attend as a part-time student.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: To make up for my current academic situation, I am taking summer school courses PHYS 118 and BIOL 102, and for my current family situation, I will also apply to be a part-time student so that I can better balance my work and study. At the same time, I am also considering whether my current major is really suitable for me, so if my grades in summer school are not satisfactory, I would like to choose to study some other disciplines in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, such as social studies courses, history courses, and so on. I will also communicate with Academic Advising via email about my next steps, and I will look at the pass rates and scores of previous years to make a careful selection of courses.
1. Keep communicating with Academic Advising to choose a program with the right level of difficulty and direction of study.
2. Apply for part-time study for a better balance between study and life.
3. Make up my gpa and credits through summer school opportunities.
4. Update my study plan according to the situation and keep the plan executed.
5. Make an effort to get yourself involved in clubs to work on your language and at the same time, you can break out of your closed social circle and get more information about your studies.
