Decision(s) Being Appealed: Waive the requirement to withdraw for one year

Appeal Grounds

Appeals to the Board of Studies must include a letter based on one or more of the Grounds for Appeal (Appeal Regulation 3.4). What are the grounds you are basing your appeal on?
  • The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
    • Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.
Appeal Grounds Details: I believe that the associate dean's decision was fair and there was made decision his decision based on evidence he had. I am writing this letter asking for the petition to be re-evulated. I understand that the requirement to withdraw is not seen as a punishment, but rather a time for me to reflect. I have made better changes to myself and will show improvements on my academic performances. The requirement to withdraw for 1 year will not only halt my academic progress, but seeing as I have already signed a lease for another year to stay in kingston I will also be set back financially. I am asking for another chance to attend school in september for the fall semester. I can guarantee improvements will be shown in the first term, to prove that I am focused and determined to better my academic career.

Appeal Letter

Appeal Letter: I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this in the hopes of appealing the denial of my appeal to waive the requirement withdraw. I understand that the 1 year requirement to withdraw is not intended to be punitive but instead be a time for me to reflect on my learning journey. I believe that allowing me to return to school in the upcoming semester will allow me to continue my education without further interruptions. I kindly ask you to reconsider my appeal and grant me the opportunity to return to school. I am prepared to follow any additional requirements or conditions the school may require that I follow. Please give me this second chance and review how my first semester goes, I can guarantee changes to my academic performances and am dedicated to bettering myself and overcoming past challenges. I am eager and hopeful to prove my commitment to my education and to the school’s community. Thank you for your time and consideration.
