Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my strong desire to participate in an exchange program at UNIVERSIDAD ANTONIO NEBRIJA in Madrid for the Winter 2025 semester. This opportunity to study abroad is both fascinating and pivotal for my academic and professional aspirations.
As I enter my third year in the Political Studies Program at Queens, I have actively engaged in contacting the proper personnel to achieve my goal, i.e., the International Exchange Office for a letter of permission, my undergraduate chair, Professor Laforest and the International program itself to discuss my options and ensure that the courses I plan to take are approved. I am happy to share that since starting this process, I have received approval. I plan to take four classes in my semester abroad, so I request your approval to complete more than the 6.0 allotted credits. The courses provided by the host school are as follows:
POLS:
International relations
The European Union: Culture, History and Institutions
Electives:
European Cinema: A Reflection of European Identity
International Communication
I plan on completing the mandatory 12.0 POLS credits in the Fall 2024 semester, and if there are any that are only available in the Winter 2025 semester, I plan on taking them in my fourth and final year at Queens. This opportunity is significant to me so that I may deepen my understanding of international relations from a global perspective, a field I am passionate about. I will be housing with other Queen's students while abroad and plan on returning to Queens for the Fall 2025 semester to finish my undergraduate degree at a place I consider my second home.
My semester abroad, in conjunction with the education I am receiving at Queens, will aid me in becoming a more well-rounded student and even help my chances of applying to law school, which I plan on attending after my undergraduate degree. I kindly request your support and approval of my petition to make this experience possible.
Thank you for considering my petition; your assistance in helping me achieve my goal is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kathrin Collaku

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: As outlined in my letter, my academic plan is as follows:
I intend to complete my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Studies at Queen's by transferring my credits from my semester abroad. Specifically, I will fulfill my mandatory 12.0 300-level credits during the Fall 2024 semester and then take additional politics courses and electives through the ISA program while abroad.
I will return to Queens for the Fall 2025 semester to complete my fourth and final year and graduate alongside my peers as the Class of 2026.
After careful consultation with all relevant parties, this plan is the most suitable course for my academic and professional goals.
Again, I appreciate your support in this process and hope we can achieve a beneficial result.
