Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

I’m writing you today to discuss my final mark in psych 100. I was offered accommodation since my father passed away right before my final exam. I wasn’t in the right space and chose to take the final exam. Having said that I checked solus and I was a mere 2% off (without my 5% boost) to pass the course. I reached out to my professor in hopes to have this mark changed under compassion for my extenuating circumstances (with no luck). For reference my other classes are A’s and B’s with my other professors overwhelmingly supporting me. I have been in college/university for years and this mark I feel could use a little compassion.

As stated multiple times throughout the course if I may quote “remember that there are many points associated with formative grades that can help balance out summarize assessment grades (participation-based grading) “we find that students who struggle with exams do quite well in this class”. I got 100% on all my assignments and have participated in the class to the full extent. Only 2% needed before my boost could be used. I feel compassion needs to be in place when there is extenuating circumstances especially since I have a proven track record of excellent marks. Please take this all into consideration.
