Petition Letter: Dear Dean Dr. Bob Lemieux,
I hope this message finds you well. It is with humble regards that I write this appeal seeking an extension for FILM 339 registration. Unfortunately, I was not able to enroll within the said timeline as I was still waiting for a spot in another course in which I was wait-listed. Since I had some optimism about securing a position off the waitlist I did not venture to apply for other courses.
Since it is now apparent that I will not be allowed to get in the waitlisted course though there are still some vacancies open for FILM 339 I am very much interested in taking the course. To the best of my knowledge, no assignments have been provided to the class and therefore, I would not be at any disadvantage if I were given an opportunity to join this course at this time.
Without this course, it will be difficult for me to progress in my academic studies as I do not have a full course load and this also triggers a lot of anxiety as I would have to pick more courses for next semester which would be too overwhelming for me. I also would like to mention that I emailed the FILM department first about this inquiry and they directed me here to write this petition. I kindly request that you allow an exception in this case as this opportunity would be of great value to me.

Academic Plan: FILM 339
Immediate Action: I will attend a class tomorrow (Wednesday, September 18th) before being given this official position on lectures to ensure I stay updated. I will also approach the professor to seek any material which I might have received but skipped.
Academic History: I have never been offered a grade below a B and am currently on the path to having a finishing Queen's with a degree with distinction. This goes to show that I am capable of making it in this course even if I am too shy to join one in mid-semester.
Catch-Up Plan: To ensure that I do not get left behind the other students, the moment I register for the class, I will endeavour to get any hand-ins and lectures that came in while I was away and consider how I can manage my time effectively so that I do not spend a lot of time feeling like I lost something that I should have pursued.
Ongoing Commitment: In future, I shall attend all the classes and help contribute towards the successful finishing of the course.
