Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Greetings,

I am writing to petition for the ability to add a course past the add/drop deadline of September 16th 2024. I would like to add Math 121 to my course schedule for the full year in place of one of my current 6 courses. Due to increased anxiety surrounding my declining health and desire to be closer to my family for support next year, I have made the decision to transfer to the University of Victoria, where I am originally from. However, the requirements for admission into their general sciences program include two semesters of math (please note 1 semester at Uvic is considered 1.5 Units, hence the documentation indicating 3.0 units required.) I currently do not meet these requirements as the mathematics courses I have previously completed at the School of Business, prior to pursuing my second degree in sciences, are not accepted. My health has been declining since I have returned to Queen’s this fall, reaching a point this past week that I no longer believe living in Kingston is sustainable for the next two years. If I had known I would need to transfer earlier, I would have been more aware of the transfer requirements and enrolled into Math 121 prior to the add/drop deadline. I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate any consideration you can offer at this time.

Best Regards,
Ella Lane (20200549)

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I will use my four hours of free tutoring per month as a Varsity Athlete to ensure I understand the course materials that I have missed during the first three weeks of the semester.
