Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request an extension on the deadline to submit my petition for a late class drop. This petition will be for my first year due to unforeseen personal circumstances that have significantly impacted my ability to continue my studies and submit my petition in a timely manner.

Over the summer, after moving home to Nova Scotia following my first year at Queen’s, I faced a series of challenges that severely affected my well-being. I was unexpectedly kicked out of my family residence and had to live on a relative's couch while managing a full-time job. Additionally, I experienced severe eczema flare-ups, which further complicated my situation and took a toll on my health.

I have since chosen to return to Kingston, where I have found a strong support system. I have been working diligently to stabilize my personal life and prioritize my health. I am currently working full-time and collaborating closely with my doctor to address my health issues. I believe I am now in a position to resume my studies effectively.

In my petition, I will outline my reasons for needing a class drop, as well as a comprehensive plan for my academic success moving forward. This plan includes strategies for managing my coursework, accessing resources on campus, and maintaining my health while balancing my academic responsibilities. I am committed to making the most of my time at Queen’s and ensuring that I succeed in my studies.

I genuinely appreciate your understanding and consideration of my request. Granting me the opportunity to submit my petition despite the original deadline would make a significant difference in my academic journey.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Samyah Landry
