Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

This letter is to ask that the requirement to withdraw be waived due to extenuating circumstances. In the past years I have dealt with multiple different mental illnesses. Going through stages of depression, an eating disorder and anxiety I can freely say that dealing with things normally was and still is quite hard for me. Throughout grade twelve, I was in counselling with a therapist at South lake Hospital in Newmarket. During the approach of the school year I stopped going to the therapist as I decided that I was ready to face things on my own. I however still continued to take the medication as I saw it as a way of maintaining my good health. However, this was not the case as throughout the school year things quickly became more difficult. My first semester was not good at all, however, by second semester I started to do better but I could not recover enough from the first semester in order to avoid being required to withdraw. I understand the rationale for the requirement to withdraw, however I believe that I am making positive steps to proceed successfully in the future.

My plan in moving forward is quite simple. I am currently retaking Physics, Biology and Calculus throughout the summer so that I can achieve high passing grades. I am also planning on taking a lesser course load throughout the year and continuing courses into the summer months. In this way I will be able to focus on my studies as well as my health. In relation to my health, I am currently in the process of looking for local medical support to help me with my anxiety and depressive episodes.

I ask that you take my situation into consideration and allow me a second chance at doing things right.
