Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
Last year I was a very hard year for me. I experienced circumstances that I didn’t know how to manage, and this impacted my functioning. I was able to be successful in a few classes because they were more flexible, and the expectations were different. I am hoping to petition for late drop for the classes that were impacted most by my circumstances. I am petitioning MUTH 240, ARTH 210, PSYC 100, ARTH 234. Some are full year courses (2023/2024), and I am hoping that both terms would be able to be dropped and as well as those individual courses from winter 2024 term. I did not know that dropping courses was an option, or that student wellness services was a support that I could access. I realize now that my circumstances were not something I could manage on my own and now that I have this support things are slowly getting better. I connected with SWS in October, and I have decided that I will be taking a gap year/leave for the 2024/2025 academic year. When I return, I hope to ensure that my courses are selected with some strategy, and I will be speaking with academic advising to help me. My hope is that with further connection with SWS and advising that I will be able to manage more optimal functioning for the Sept 2025 fall term.
