Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am seeking a petition to take an additional 3.0 units beyond the permitted 6.0 units on a LOP. It has been known by myself and the Queen's faculty since July 2024, that Queen's is not offering the required courses I need to complete my degree this year. I was given written confirmation from Queen's on July 31, 2024 that Queen's would approve me taking up to 9.0 units per term on an LOP to help ameliorate this situation and have been moving forward in good faith in securing these units at another institution. I will need to be enrolled at the other institution in advance of December 10, 2024, for a January start. It is imperative that I be able to secure these remaining 3.0 units in the winter 2025 term to satisfy my financial requirement as a full time student and not be entered into my student loan repayment period in advance of actually being able to re-enter the workforce with my new credentials. Further, as a single parent, it is imperative that I be able to complete this degree on time to be able to return to the work force as soon as possible to mitigate other financial complications.
