Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am petitioning for credit standing due to extenuating circumstances related to a concussion I sustained during the academic term. My concussion impacted my ability to access my course materials as I was unable to withstand extended screen time. I am in the online program so all of my materials are digital and require me to be on my laptop. This causes me a great deal of pain and led to further set backs in my studies. The concussion also impacted my abilities to focus for extended lengths of time as well as my information retention and retrieval. All of this culminated in me achieving a less than desired final grade in the class. Throughout the concussion I consulted with medical doctors, physical therapists, psychotherapists and the Kingston Orthopaedic Pain Institute to heal and work to prevent further concussion symptoms. I am very grateful for the support of Tara Karasewich, the Accommodations and Learning Management Systems Assistant who was an incredible support throughout the whole ordeal.
