Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request academic consideration due to extenuating personal circumstances that have significantly impacted my academic performance.
In late November 2024, I experienced a traumatic breakup that deeply affected my emotional well-being and ability to focus on my academics. As a result, I had to return home for the final two weeks of the semester and have remained at home since then, working through the emotional challenges caused by this situation.
This event has impacted my ability to complete my coursework effectively, particularly in PSYC 100, with Jeffrey Wammes. The emotional distress I experienced during this period made it difficult to focus, meet deadlines, and maintain my usual academic performance. I went home the last two weeks of class and missed course work and class that made me feel unprepared to write the exam alongside dealing with this emotional trauma.
To address these challenges, I have taken steps to prioritize my mental health, including consulting with a counsellor, therapist, or academic advisor and seeking support from my family. These efforts have helped me begin to process this experience and refocus on my academic responsibilities. I am petitioning to request the complete withdrawal from the PSYC 100 course. Although I understand that the exam date has already passed, I was initially under the impression that I wasn’t still required to take the exam even after dropping the course.
I kindly ask for your understanding and consideration in light of these extenuating circumstances.
Thank you for your time and understanding. Please let me know if additional information or documentation is required.
Sincerely,
Molly Bellefeuille
