Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request a late withdrawal from ARTH 232 for the winter-summer semester of 2025 due to significant extenuating circumstances that have severely impacted my academic performance.
Throughout this semester, I faced multiple challenges beyond my control. My partner attempted suicide, which required my immediate attention and support, leading to considerable emotional distress. Additionally, I suffered a severe concussion on October 4 and subsequent micro-concussions, which prolonged my recovery period. These incidents are documented with medical notes from my healthcare providers I went to the ARC walk in clinic for most of theses notes and KGH for one.
The cumulative effect of these events hindered my ability to perform academically. Despite my efforts to manage these challenges by consulting with mental health professionals and utilizing university support services, I was unable to maintain the necessary focus and energy required for this course.
I have previously submitted and been granted extenuating circumstances forms for similar issues, which have been acknowledged by the university. However, the ongoing nature of these circumstances has made it impossible for me to complete this course to the best of my ability.
I kindly request that you consider this petition for a late withdrawal without academic penalty. I have attached all relevant documentation to support my case, including medical notes and previous extenuating circumstances approvals.
