Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally request consideration of extenuating circumstances that significantly affected my academic performance during the previous fall semester. Specifically, I was unable to complete the final exam for EMPR 220 and Test #2 for HLTH 323 due to a concussion I sustained while playing basketball.

This concussion occurred on November 11th and its I am still feeling the effects approximately two months later. During this time, I experienced symptoms including; severe headaches, difficulty concentrating, and fatigue, which made it extremely challenging to engage in academic work or prepare for examinations. Despite my best efforts, these circumstances were beyond my control, and I was unable to perform at my usual academic level.

To address the situation, I sought medical care and followed the advice of healthcare professionals, including rest, limiting screen time, and gradual reintegration into daily activities.

I deeply value my education and have taken proactive steps to recover and ensure my readiness to resume academic activities. I kindly request that you consider granting me the opportunity to take the EMPR 220 final exam when I am fully recovered along with the HLTH 323 Test #2 and/or assign an alternative form of assessment to fairly reflect my capabilities.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration of my petition. I am happy to provide any additional information or documentation required.

Sincerely,
Haley Barbieri
