Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request a late drop for Psyc 241 for the fall 2024 Semester due to unforeseen and exceptional personal circumstances that significantly impacted my ability to meet the course requirements.

During the term, I faced a series of overwhelming challenges, including homelessness, abuse, a deeply painful personal breakup, and significant mental health struggles. Despite seeking assistance and actively working to overcome these hardships, the cumulative effect made it impossible for me to successfully complete the course.

I made every effort to stay on track by completing two out of the three required assignments, completing the midterm, doing two discussion posts, and being prepared for the final exam, but ultimately, I was unable to fulfill all requirements. Upon consulting with Tara Karasewich the Accommodations and Learning Management Systems Assistant, I was advised not to write the deferred exam and to pursue this petition for a late course drop as the best course of action for my academic progress and well-being.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and ask for your understanding in this matter. I am also able to provide a doctors note to verify my circumstances.

I am committed to regaining stability and continuing my education successfully. A late course drop would help mitigate the impact of this difficult period on my academic record and future goals.
