Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Petition Team,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Hua Jiang and I am a fourth-year student majoring in Applied Economics. I am writing to request your consideration for a petition to add classes after the add deadline due to circumstances that I recently discovered during a discussion with my academic advisor, Mrs. Daralyn Auld.
Two issues have emerged, which prevent some of my current credits from being counted toward my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree:
MATH123 and MATH126 Credit Overlap:
In my first semester of Year 1, I enrolled in MATH126, unaware that my high school achievements qualified for a credit transfer for MATH123. By the time I was notified of the successful credit transfer for MATH123, the first semester was nearly over, and I did not realise the conflict between the two courses at that time.
Exceeding Credit Limits Outside the Arts and Science Department:
I selected COMM221 as an option course, along with COMM200 and COMM353 as elective courses. Unfortunately, I was unaware that these exceeded the Arts and Science Department’s policy, which caps credits earned outside the department at 6 units.
After consulting with my academic advisor, I understand that I need to drop LAW201 this semester and enroll in three additional courses that align with my degree requirements.
I sincerely hope for your understanding and approval of my petition. This adjustment is crucial for my timely graduation this semester. Furthermore, I have already accepted an offer to the Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) program at Schulich School of Business, which begins its first term this May. Graduating on time is essential for me to seize this valuable opportunity.
I deeply appreciate your attention and support in resolving this matter. Please let me know if further details or documentation are required.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
Best regards,
Hua Jiang
