Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this petition to ask that I be allowed to enroll in POLS 112 past the official enrollment date. Starting my classes in the second semester, I began to realize that I no longer wished to pursue environmental studies as my major, instead wanting to shift my focus towards political studies. I have enjoyed high school classes on the subject, and want to declare it as my major. The passing of a close family member has left me with little capacity to do much other than family communication. lengthy zoom calls and funeral arrangements have taken up a significant portion of my time. It happened shortly before the course adding period ended, and I missed my time to change one of my courses. I do not believe that this will alter my performance in this course as I have been working hard to find my footing, and get back into the workflow of my classes.Taking this class is very important in my plan for future years.
