Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Professor,

I hope this message finds you well. I have recently been informed that I need to fulfill mandatory military service, and I am determined to complete my degree before then. To do so, I need to take 8 courses this upcoming winter semester, many of which are math- and science-intensive due to the nature of my program.

I am very passionate about your course, and I believe it would provide a valuable balance to my current schedule while aligning with my personal development and interests. Unfortunately, when I attempted to enroll via SOLUS, I noticed the course is listed as closed. Given my unique circumstances, I wanted to kindly reach out to see if an exception could be made. I would truly appreciate your consideration.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Take care,
Dasan Barrelli

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I am committed to successfully completing a heavy course load this semester. To ensure academic success, I have developed a clear and actionable plan:

Structure, Organization and Time Management: I will create a comprehensive calendar outlining all class schedules, deadlines, exams, and assignments. I will use time-blocking to allocate specific study periods for each course daily, ensuring consistent progress and prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance.

Frequent Meetings with My Academic Advisor: I will continue to regularly meet with my academic advisor, Vanessa McCourt, to review my progress, discuss any challenges, and ensure I remain on track to successfully complete the semester.

Efficient Study Strategies: I will actively engage with course material by summarizing content in my own words, creating study aids like flashcards, and using weekly review sessions to reinforce learning.

Utilizing Campus Resources: I will ensure to seek help if needed through office hours, and utilizing in university support services, such as Queen's Student Academic Success Service's , to strengthen my academic performance.

Stress and Energy Management: To maintain focus and stamina, I will prioritize sleep, balanced nutrition, and regular physical activity. I will incorporate breaks into my study schedule and practice mindfulness techniques to manage stress effectively.

Regular Monitoring and Adjustments: I will frequently evaluate my progress, adjust my schedule as necessary, and proactively seek guidance or resources if I encounter any difficulties.

With this structured plan and regular support from my academic advisor, I am confident in my ability to manage this course load and achieve academic success.
