Petition Letter: Hello Associate Dean,
Firstly I would like to express my sincerest apologies for needing to launch this petition. I was dealing with a family emergency throughout the holidays and into the new year. This distracted me from ensuring that my degree requirements were satisfied prior to the deadline to add courses. If you would like more information on my family situation I can provide you with additional details but we would prefer to keep in closed doors due to the sensitive subject matter.
I require this single course to satisfy my degree requirements and graduate this spring with my peers. I have contacted the instructor and my undergraduate chair, both of which have given me permission and support to join the course. The reason this petition is being submitted this week as opposed to last, is because it took me a while to find the correct process to add the course.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or require any additional information.

Academic Plan: Hello Associate Dean,
I will be the first to admit that I was in a bad place with my mental health in the past month, but I believe that I have made the steps to correct this and do better moving forward this semester. I have been very focussed on my studies since returning to classes this semester, and I have started to see a councillor in regards to my family situation. These changes and adjustments will allow me to do well with my current courseload and easily accomadate one additional course.
I have the complete support of my friends and family and I know that I can meet my performance requirements to graduate in the spring. The extenuating circumstances which lead to this petition simply occured at an unfortunate time and has led me to be in this position. I will continue to focus heavily on my studies while dealing with my mental health this semester and I believe this will benefit my greatly in the future. I do not want to allow this one course to upset my academic, personal and professional goals for this year and would greatly appreciate if you could approve my petition based on the information I have provided.
