Subject: Request to Enroll in REPD 372 After the Add/Drop Deadline
Dear Members of the Faculty of Arts and Science,
I am writing to formally request permission to enroll in REPD 372 for the current term despite missing the add/drop deadline. The circumstances leading to this situation were beyond my control, and I kindly ask for your understanding and consideration of my request.
On the final day of the add/drop period, I was on the waitlist for IDIS 483 and was first in line. A spot in the course became available that day, and based on my position on the waitlist, I reasonably assumed I would be admitted into the course. Unfortunately, I later learned that another student was granted priority over me due to unforeseen circumstances, which prevented my enrollment. By the time I realized this, the add/drop deadline had already passed, leaving me unable to secure a spot in IDIS 483 or pursue alternative course options at that time. This situation, which was unexpected and out of my control, has directly impacted my ability to stay on track with my academic timeline.
Recognizing the importance of maintaining my academic progress and fulfilling my degree requirements, I immediately began exploring other course options that would align with my program and schedule. After consulting my academic advisor and researching available courses, I identified REPD 372 as a course that fulfills my credit requirements for graduation. I have also communicated with the instructor of REPD 372, Dr. David Natale who has expressed his support for my enrollment in the course at this time.
I sincerely regret the oversight in assuming I would be admitted to IDIS 483 and not taking immediate steps to secure an alternative course before the deadline. To address this, I have since implemented measures to ensure I avoid similar situations in the future. These include actively monitoring enrollment changes throughout the add/drop period, promptly consulting with academic advisors, and communicating with instructors about potential enrollment issues as early as possible. These steps reflect my commitment to staying proactive and adhering to academic policies moving forward.
Enrolling in REPD 372 is vital to maintaining my academic timeline and completing my degree requirements. The inability to enroll in this course would delay my graduation and impact my broader academic and career goals. I kindly ask for your understanding and approval to allow my late enrollment in this course.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information or documentation to support my petition.
Sincerely,
Ella Gallant

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I am currently pursuing Life Sciences and am on track to complete my degree requirements by May 2025. I have reviewed my Academic Advisement Report in SOLUS and confirmed that REPD 372 is essential for fulfilling my credit requirements and graduating on time. The course aligns with my academic pathway and program goals. To ensure clarity and compliance, I have consulted with my academic advisor, who has reviewed my remaining requirements and confirmed that enrolling in REPD 372 is both necessary and feasible within my current degree plan.
I intend to remain a full-time student, maintaining a course load that is both manageable and conducive to academic success. My current course load is balanced, consisting of [list other courses if applicable], and I am confident that adding REPD 372 will not negatively affect my academic performance. I have no incomplete work from previous academic sessions, and my schedule allows for adequate study time for all enrolled courses.
To address the challenges that led to this situation and to ensure my success in REPD 372, I will implement several strategies. I will schedule ongoing meetings with my academic advisor to monitor my progress, confirm that I am meeting degree requirements, and receive guidance on course planning and registration. I will actively monitor course enrollments and waitlists during the add/drop periods to avoid missed opportunities and communicate with instructors and advisors earlier in the term to preempt any enrollment challenges. Additionally, I plan to engage with Student Academic Success Services (SASS) to strengthen my time management and study skills, ensuring that I remain on track academically while managing a full course load. I will create a detailed study schedule to balance coursework, ensuring I can dedicate sufficient time to each subject. This includes setting specific weekly goals and adhering to deadlines for assignments and exam preparation. I will also participate in study groups or peer discussions, particularly for REPD 372, to enhance my understanding of course material and stay motivated. Finally, I will periodically review my academic performance and adjust my study habits or workload as necessary. If needed, I will seek additional support from tutors or mentors to address specific academic challenges.
Enrolling in REPD 372 is vital to my graduation timeline and career aspirations. This course is essential for fulfilling my program requirements and preparing me for my next chapter in dental school. By adhering to the outlined plan, I am confident I can successfully complete this course and continue progressing toward my academic and professional objectives.
This academic plan demonstrates my commitment to achieving success despite the challenges I have faced. I am prepared to utilize all available resources and strategies to excel in REPD 372 and maintain my academic progress. I appreciate the Faculty’s consideration of my request and look forward to your approval.
