Petition Letter: Petition for Re-evaluation of Test 1 Due to Technical Issues on onQ
Dear Associate Dean,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request a re-evaluation of my Test 1 due to technical issues encountered on onQ, which were beyond my control and significantly impacted my academic performance (20% of my finally grades).
During Test 1, I used Overleaf to write all the LaTeX code required for the questions. I completed all the coding on Overleaf and ensured that the code was fully functional before transferring it to onQ. I have preserved all my LaTeX code on Overleaf, which includes timestamps as proof that no modifications were made after the exam ended.
After finishing the coding on Overleaf, I copied and inserted all the LaTeX equations into onQ and submitted the test within the allotted time. I could see all my work displayed on onQ before submission. However, despite this, onQ failed to save my inputs upon submission. This issue was beyond my control, as I had no way to verify whether onQ correctly saved my work after submission.
I encountered the same technical issue during Assignment 2, which I recorded as evidence. This indicates a recurring problem with the onQ platform rather than an error on my part. I am willing to provide this video, as well as the preserved Overleaf documents with timestamps, as evidence of my efforts and to demonstrate that no changes were made after the test.
This technical malfunction directly affected my performance on Test 1, resulting in a grade that does not accurately reflect my knowledge or effort. I have consistently demonstrated my capability to use LaTeX and onQ correctly, as evidenced by my good performance on Assignment 1 and other course activities.
I believe it is unfair for my grade to be adversely affected by a technical issue that was beyond my control. My work was completed on time, and the failure to save was due to the onQ platform, not my actions or knowledge.
Upon discovering this issue, I immediately contacted the TA to explain the situation and request a re-evaluation. I also provided an explanation of my workflow using Overleaf and my observations regarding onQ's failure to save the inputs. Unfortunately, my request was declined.
I am now reaching out to you with a formal petition, as I believe it is essential to address this matter fairly. I am prepared to provide:

The recorded video demonstrating the onQ saving issue.
Given that this issue was due to a technical malfunction on onQ, which was beyond my control, I kindly request a re-evaluation of my Test 1. I believe this is a fair consideration given that I completed all work within the allotted time and that the failure to save was purely a technical issue.
I have worked diligently throughout the course, and it would be disheartening for my grade to be adversely affected by a technical issue unrelated to my academic abilities. I sincerely hope for your understanding and consideration of my petition.
