Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I hope this email finds you well. My name is Tianxun Zhang, a senior Economics student (Student ID: 20308872) in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen's University. I am writing to respectfully request an exception to the undergraduate transfer credit limit policy, as I require approval for 3 additional transfer credits to fulfill my graduation requirements.

1. Current Academic Status
• Credits Completed: 117/120 credits (including courses in progress)
• Remaining Requirement: 3 credits in electives
• Summer Course Limitations: Queen's Summer 2025 offerings allow only 4 courses, which would still leave me 3 credits short of graduation.

2. Proposed Resolution
I plan to enroll in ARTH 2131 History of Photography at Hubei University of Technology this summer. The syllabus is attached.

3. Compliance Considerations
I acknowledge the standard 6-credit transfer limit. However, Section 8.2.3 of Queen's Academic Regulations states exceptions may be granted when:

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Dear Associate Dean,

I appreciate the opportunity to provide an academic plan outlining how I intend to successfully complete my degree requirements while ensuring my academic performance remains strong. My primary goal is to graduate in Fall 2025 and subsequently apply for a Master’s program. Below, I present my plan for fulfilling the remaining 3 elective credits through an additional transfer credit course while balancing my academic workload.

1. Current Academic Progress and Graduation Plan
Total Credits Completed: 117/120 (including in-progress courses)
Summer 2025 Course Enrollment: 4 courses totaling 15 credits
Remaining Requirement: 3 elective credits to meet graduation requirements
Given that Queen’s Summer 2025 course offerings do not fully accommodate my credit needs, I propose taking an additional transfer credit course at Hubei University of Technology to complete my final elective requirement.

2. Plan for Completing the Transfer Credit Course
To ensure timely graduation, I plan to enroll in ARTH 2131 History of Photography at Hubei University of Technology. This course aligns with my academic interests and satisfies my elective credit requirement. The syllabus has been attached for review.

To successfully complete this transfer credit while maintaining my performance in my summer courses at Queen’s, I will:

Manage workload efficiently: I will schedule my courses to avoid time conflicts, allocating sufficient study time for both Queen’s and transfer courses.
Utilize online learning resources: If applicable, I will leverage online materials and digital platforms to ensure smooth coursework completion.
Ensure credit transfer compliance: I will verify that this course meets Queen’s transfer credit requirements and submit necessary documentation promptly.
3. Balancing On-Campus and Transfer Courses
Given that my Queen’s summer courses involve a total of 15 credits, I will strategically distribute my workload to prevent academic overload.
I will engage in effective time management by prioritizing coursework and maintaining regular communication with both institutions regarding academic expectations.
I will seek academic advising when necessary to ensure my credit plan remains aligned with my Master’s application timeline.
4. Post-Graduation Plans
Upon successfully completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to apply for a Master’s program to further my academic and professional development. Ensuring a smooth transition into postgraduate studies is a key motivation for my proactive credit completion strategy.
