Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request permission to drop ECON 243 without a DR notation on my transcript. I understand I am three days late from the deadline, and recognize it was my responsibility to ensure I had enough time. However, over the past two weeks I had to leave the country due to a family emergency and was unable to complete the withdrawal during this period. I do not have official documentation to support my situation, as I left to travel home to support a family member.
Over the past week, I have now felt overwhelmed with the content of this course as well, as it is heavily exam-based (90%). Given my current circumstances, I believe it is in my best academic interest to discontinue this course fully, a decision I was also choosing between before the deadline. Further, I am currently enrolled in a summer 200 level ECON course in order to remain on course with my academic progress. I understand that exceptions aren’t always possible and I take full responsibility for missing the deadline. That being said, I would like to drop this course without it affecting my transcript, as I am still committed to making it up over the summer.
