Petitions Committee
Queens University
Faculty of Law

Dear Members of the Petitions Committee,

I am writing to formally request the removal of LAW201 from my transcript due to extenuating circumstances that significantly impacted my academic performance. Throughout the term, I have been fully committed to this course and my studies as a whole. However, I mistakenly did not realize that a particular assignment was mandatory and weighted. I take full responsibility for this oversight, as I should have ensured I had a clearer understanding of the course requirements. Unfortunately, this mistake has had a severe impact on my grade, despite my otherwise strong performance in the course.

During this period, I was also managing multiple other assignments and dealing with a wisdom tooth infection, which ultimately required surgery. While I did my best to stay on top of my coursework, the combination of these factors contributed to my misunderstanding of the assignment’s importance. Since realizing my error, I have reached out to my professor multiple times for guidance but have not received a response, leaving me uncertain about possible next steps.

This situation has taken an overwhelming toll on my mental health. I have worked incredibly hard this year and have put my full effort into this course and all my others, yet this single oversight now threatens to misrepresent the dedication I have shown throughout the term. My petition is not an attempt to avoid the course entirely—I fully intend to retake it next year if my grade can be removed from my transcript. Rather, I am asking for the opportunity to ensure that my final record reflects my true academic efforts and not just one misstep.

I would greatly appreciate your consideration of my request. Please let me know if any additional documentation is required. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,
Sophia Fallico
