Petition Letter: Academic Petitions Committee Queen's University Department of Psychology
Subject: Petition for Credit Standing in PSYC 221 – Introduction to Cognitive Psychology
Dear Academic Petitions Committee,
I am writing to formally request a credit standing for my PSYC 221 – Introduction to Cognitive Psychology course due to the ongoing PSAC Local 901 Unit 1 strike that began on March 10th. The disruption caused by the strike has significantly impacted my ability to fairly demonstrate my knowledge and effort in the course.
I was fully prepared to write the second midterm exam and had dedicated considerable time and effort to studying the material. Unfortunately, due to the strike, I was never given the opportunity to complete this assessment, which I believe would have significantly contributed to improving my overall grade.
Throughout the term, I diligently completed all assigned coursework, submitting each assignment with my best effort. I received excellent grades on these assignments, reflecting my strong engagement and understanding of the course material. However, because the assignments were weighted lower in comparison to the exams, I feel that my current grade does not accurately represent my efforts and abilities in the course. The inability to complete the second midterm has unfairly limited my academic performance and final evaluation.
Given these circumstances, I respectfully request that I be granted a credit standing for PSYC 221. I strongly believe that this would be the fairest resolution, ensuring that my academic record reflects my dedication and performance in the course despite the unforeseen disruption.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my petition. I appreciate your understanding and look forward to your response. Please feel free to contact me if any further information or documentation is required.
Sincerely,
Lily Brown
