Petition Letter: Dear Petition Committee,
I am writing to request a late drop for CISC 121 due to extenuating circumstances related to both the recent TA strike and a personal medical condition.
CISC 121 heavily relies on teaching assistants (TAs) for instruction, feedback, and academic support, as the professor offers limited direct teaching or detailed explanations. When the strike began, TAs were no longer available, which meant I lost access to the only meaningful academic support I had for this course. The strike occurred during critical periods for assignments and assessments, directly impacting both my understanding of the material and my ability to complete coursework successfully.
On top of this, during the term I also contracted gastroenteritis, which further impacted my ability to keep up with the course. I experienced severe symptoms that interfered with my ability to attend to academic responsibilities, especially when combined with the lack of available help due to the strike.
Together, these circumstances significantly affected my academic performance and left me unable to succeed in the course despite my efforts. I am therefore requesting a late drop based on these combined extenuating factors.
