Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally request an extension for an incomplete grade in PHIL 259. I have already spoken with my professor, who has expressed her support for this request should it move forward.

During the Fall semester, I was navigating a difficult and ongoing situation in my personal life that significantly impacted my mental health. While I did my best to prevent this from affecting my academic performance, it unfortunately had an impact on this particular course.

Throughout this academic year, I have been working hard to raise my GPA, and I have seen positive progress. I am deeply committed to maintaining that trajectory, and I do not want the outcome of this one course to undermine the effort and growth I’ve achieved.

I fully understand that granting this extension would be a significant privilege, and I want to assure you that I do not take this request lightly. I am committed to completing the remaining course work within the extended timeframe, should it be approved.
