Petition Letter: Hello, my name is Emma Lobo.
I am a recent graduate from Queen's, major in PSYC, minor in film and media and completed a business certificate.
Throughout my degree I battled with a variety of mental disabilities, unforeseen circumstances and many mental health struggles. I am now looking to apply to graduate schools and would not like my disability to define my academic ability moving forward and would not like to explain my past in detail, when applying to places, since I have proven I am capable in academia when I have the right support and treatment. Further, I wouldn't like to be misjudged based on a mistake I made not acting on this at the time due to what I was struggling with.
I understand it is past the deadline; but I would like to petition to wave the deadline to appeal 3 F's from my transcript, all of these F's were from incomplete work due to my disability, not work that I submitted and failed. FILM 340 -Fall 2022, FILM 206 -Winter 2021and PSYC 301 -Fall 2021.
At the time, I had the support of my professors and accessibility advisor to appeal to late drop and remove the F's from my transcript; however, throughout these times I had new diagnoses, was on and off medications and due to my disability it made it difficult to go through with these processes. I am taking numerous steps such as therapy, treatment groups and am figuring out stable medication, to improve my ability to manage my symptoms and would not like this to be stuck to me.
I would be willing to provide any requested documentation or a meeting or anything I may be able to do to go forward with these appeals if possible to remove them from my transcript as per the plan of my instructors and academic advisor a couple years ago.
Please let me know any next steps and thank you for your time,
Emma Lobo
