Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally petition for academic consideration to receive a CR (Credit) grade for my course PSYC 100.
At the start of the semester, I suffered from a severe case of influenza, which significantly impacted my health and ability to engage in my studies. For almost a month, I was unable to concentrate effectively on my coursework due to physical exhaustion and mental fatigue. This early disruption set me back academically and made it challenging to keep up with the course material.

Later in the semester, the Queen’s University strike led to the cancellation of all lab sessions. These labs were a crucial part of the course and provided necessary practical experience. Their cancellation caused further disruption to my learning and contributed to a growing sense of uncertainty and academic stress.

As a result of these circumstances, I was not able to perform to the best of my abilities during the final exam. The stress and lack of preparation stemming from earlier events made it difficult to focus and demonstrate my full understanding of the course content.

Given the significant impact these factors had on my academic performance, I respectfully request to receive a CR grade in this course. I believe this would fairly reflect the effort I put in under difficult conditions, without negatively affecting my GPA.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding. I am committed to continuing my studies with full effort and hope for your kind consideration of my request.

Sincerely,
Derrick Qi
