Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Members of the Academic Petitions Committee,

I am writing to formally request a CR (Credit) grade for my enrollment in GNDR 125 (Winter 2025 term) due to the significant academic disruption caused by the PSAC Local 901 strike during the semester. My name is XinYe Yu, and my student number is 20410526

As you are aware, the PSAC Local 901 labor strike led to the cancellation of multiple classes, including sessions for GNDR 125. This interruption severely impacted my ability to engage fully with course materials, participate in critical discussions, and complete assignments under normal academic conditions. While I remained committed to my studies, the uncertainty and lack of access to regular instruction during the strike created challenges that affected my performance.

After the strike concluded and final grades were released, I reviewed my academic standing in the course and determined that a CR grade would more accurately reflect my engagement and efforts under the circumstances. A CR grade would acknowledge the completion of course requirements without impacting my GPA, given the extenuating factors beyond my control.

I respectfully ask the committee to consider the unprecedented nature of the labor strike and its consequences on my academic experience. I believe this request aligns with the university’s policies for accommodations during periods of institutional disruption.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I am happy to provide any additional documentation or information required to support my petition. Please feel free to contact me

Sincerely
XinYe Yu
