Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request that I be granted a Credit (CR) grade in GNDS 125 for the [winter/ 2025] term, in place of a letter grade. This request is due to exceptional and unforeseen circumstances that significantly impacted my academic performance—specifically, the recent Teaching Assistant (TA) strike.
Throughout the term, the strike prevented me from accessing crucial academic support. I was unable to contact any TAs or professors to seek clarification, feedback, or appeal any of my submitted work prior to the strike. This lack of access severely hindered my ability to meet the academic standards I typically hold myself to.
Furthermore, we were initially informed that if the strike was unresolved by the final assignment deadline, we would not be required to complete it. Based on this guidance, I planned accordingly. However, we were later told—near the end of April—that the final assignment would, in fact, need to be submitted. Unfortunately, due to prior personal and life commitments, I was unable to complete this assignment on such short notice.
The disruption caused by the strike, coupled with the confusion surrounding the final assignment expectations, created a situation in which I was unable to achieve a grade that reflects my true academic capabilities. I believe a CR grade would more accurately represent the circumstances and would protect my academic standing without misrepresenting my effort or potential.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I would be happy to provide any additional documentation or information if needed.
